Hi!
I’m Liz Konn, an artist & illustrator based in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, Illinois with a love of surface pattern design, hand-lettering, painting murals, and the occasional crafting session. I enjoy illustrating flowers, food, people, and fun/encouraging messages in bold and interesting color palettes. My work involves hand made and digital elements—sometimes both combined.
My journey with creativity has been meandering—as creativity tends to be! I have been drawing and making artsy things for as long as I can remember—I was around 8 years old when I took my first art class (which was all adult students except for yours truly). In college I decided to study fashion and obtained degrees in apparel design from the University of Wisconsin and the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City.
After six years working in the fashion industry, I ultimately decided it just wasn’t for me. I’ve spent the last several years as a signage and mural artist for many Trader Joe’s stores—a position that spurred a complete love affair with typography and letterforms and ultimately rekindled my love for drawing. Now, I am ready to explore the world of art licensing.
Aside from making art, I have a great love for travel and exploring new places. As I get older, my love and appreciation for nature has grown, but what really lights me up is experiencing the energy of big cities. The architecture, lights, museums, people-watching, the culture and of course the FOOD—all provide endless inspiration.
As an artist, I believe in community over competition, in letting your true self shine, and that vulnerability leads to deeper and more meaningful connections. My current goal is to do or make something fun every single day and to hopefully inspire others to do the same.
I am currently looking to expand my artistic endeavors into art licensing and commissions. Interested in working together? Please don’t hesitate to reach out!
